Introduction and Explanation of the Campaign

This blog is dedicated to a Warhammer 40k campaign taking place on the planet Delteron IV, a planet suddenly thrust into all out war that threatens the entire Delteron system where a multitude of forces are vying for full control. The story line started as a series of emails that will be posted by myself and will continue as posts from the group. I've included a breakdown of the players and their forces below, as well as the initial background on Delteron IV provided in the opening email.

Jon - Dark Eldar of the Last Hatred
Chris - Adaptus Astartes of the Salamanders Chapter
Nick - Necrons of the Khaldun Dynasty
Shawn - Orks serving Magsnaga of the Goff Tribe
Jason - Eldar with Astra Militarum and Adepta Sororitas allies

The fourth orbiting planet of the white star Delteron stands as an improbable lush paradise in a system devoid of other life. Discovered and settled by Imperial colonists in M37, Delteron IV boasts an amazing ecosystem of flora and fauna which provide an abundant source of food and resources. It is enough to not only feed it's inhabitants, but a replenishable surplus to ship off-world in massive transport ships to feed the neighboring systems. In fact Delteron IV has single-handedly provided the nourishment for 6 Imperial systems for the better part of 4000 years.

In order to maximize the yield of the planet's ecosystem, Imperial structures have been kept to a minimum. There is only a single Hive on the surface, though it does span for almost 1500 miles of living structures and agri-domes for food storage. Three full continents of land are dedicated entirely to advanced industrial farms, alive with activity as aircraft continuously ferry the fruits of the serfs and agri-servitors' labor to Hive Eden.

A fifth continent lies mostly untapped in potential. It consists of rolling mountains and deep forests, which appear to offer their own amazing resources. However early exploration efforts discovered multiple ruins of Xenos origin. The region has been quarantined until an Inquisitorial investigation can determine that no heretical threat exists. However due to the slow grinding gears of the Administratum, this investigation has been pending since M38. In the meantime, the planet has been under the projection by a neighboring systems Astra Militarium garrison, and is even in the reach of at least one Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.

In truth, Delteron was seeded by the Eldar as a maiden world over 5000 years before the Imperial scouting teams set foot on it. The responsible craft-world subsequently suffered catastrophic casualties at the hands of an Ork Waaagh and has not been able to reap the rewards of the multiple worlds they terraformed. It has fallen into open territory for the inhabitants of the other Craftworlds to reclaim.
