Dark Eldar vs Salamanders Fallout

Posted on Behalf of Jon:

Archon Melianna watched with extreme displeasure as the Wracks carried the remains of her raiding party into the Coven’s rejuvenation chamber. The attack had been an embarrassment of epic proportions, one she would have to hide from her fellow archons.

Wordlessly, Felain D’Rel watched Melianna fume. As pilot of the Razorwing Soulthief, he had been the only breathing survivor of the botched operation. Only the high amount of casualties caused at his hands has spared him the wrath of his Lady. He had provided air cover for the reinforcement raiders to retrieve a portion of the slain dark kin.

“Was the priest even wounded?” Melianna snarled, her gaze meeting the eyes of the pilot. “No, milady. The resistance forces were considerably more armed than our reconnaissance had indicated. The children race… caught us by surprise.”

Melianna stopped, a sudden paranoia dominating her thoughts, was her intel compromised? Was this work of one of her rivals, feeding her false information? The settlement should have been an easy target for fear harvest, the peasants had been easily terrified, and capturing their spiritual leader should have cemented the fear for months to come. Instead, within less than 4 flares of the great black stars, the augmented humans had shown up in force and massacred Nyssa’s assault force. Perhaps her cipher toxins had been decrypted and the Scourge messages were no longer reliable.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Exodite Rekinna. His mass of scarred flesh caused Melianna to wrinkle her nose in disgust. No matter what power the self-inflicted modifications the Haemonculi promised, she could never see the worth of ruining one’s body in the attempt. She handed the Exodite the crystalline case she had been carrying. “Here’s your payment, that and the favor your master has requested. He may call upon me when he is ready to collect.” She gestured and indicated the charred body of Nyssa Lystaryx, “Make her the first priority; I have much punishment to take out on her flesh once it is regrown.”

Melianna permitted herself a secret smile. Even though the setbacks to her plans had been grave, the pleasures she would take out of Nyssa’s hide would be almost worth it. The succubus only had shame to make up for in the failure to her patron, and Melianna was eager to collect.
