One of the three ruling Succubi for the Red Sorrow wych cult, Nyssa has spent her life dedicated to improving her skills in the art of martial combat. From low origins as a servant of the Bloodbride Filtika, Nyssa has worked her way through the entire hierarchy of the Red Sorrow in just less than four centuries. Born from the gestation vats of the coven laboratories, she does not have the benefit of true-blooded genetics, but her chromosomal make-up has been modified and perfected to make up for the short-coming.
Sharing a strong bond with her vat-mates, a group of similar gene-coded Eldar wyches, Nyssa has had the benefit of having a support group to pass the various trials and tribulations of life in the Dark City. All commissioned by Filtika, the gestation brood of wyches were put through a arduous set of tasks. From serving as glorified pleasure servants, to being inducted into gladiatorial games, each task assigned to the brood has brought them new skills and the ability to respect each other in order to further their lives and glory. Though only fourteen of the original 25 commissioned remain, Nyssa's wych brood has been tempered with fearlessness and the ability to act as one killing blade.
Opportunity arose in the last century when Bloodbride Filtika ascended to the council of ruling Succubi for the Red Sorrow. In a celebration ritual, she hosted a special game at the Sorrow's arena, symbolically anointing her good favor with the blood of her most prized servants. Nyssa and her sisters were pitted in combat against a pair of Tyranid Carnifexes, purchased from the Covens' vast bestiary. The fight was not meant to be won, it was to show the newly appointed Succubus' willingness to sacrifice everything to achieve her goals. Amazingly, and to the delight of the Arena, the wyches emerged victorious, though with massive casualties, only Nyssa still standing amongst her slaughtered sisters. When Filtika descended to the arena floor to pay homage to her champion, she was met with surprise, as Nyssa, still boosted by Adrenalight from the battle, wrapped a razor-flail around the Succubus' throat. In the full view of the Arena, Nyssa condemed the former Bloodbride for wastefully sacrificing the lives of her trusted vat-mates, and constricted the flail, ripping out her master's throat.
Enraged shouts filled the Arena as the forces of the other ruling Succubi rose. Condemnations of death rose for this assassination which was not carried out in privacy as etiquette would demand. As the noise rose to a deafening level, a voice rang out through the arena, boosted by an amplifier. Faces turned to see a visiting Archon of the Last Hatred standing, her escort of Incubi bodyguards poised for bloodletting. In a calm voice, the archon identified herself as Melianna K'Daren and offered to sponsor the war efforts of the Red Sorrow Cult, which would bring countless resources and raiding opportunities to the cult. In return, her unconditional demand was that Nyssa would not only be spared, but elevated to fill the void left by her master. No attempts would be made to resurrect the life of Filtika and the remains would be unquestionably disposed of.
The Arena was still as the two remaining ruling Succubi consulted with each other. A consensus was reached, that the loss of Filtika was inconsequential as she could not detect the murderous intent of her own servant and needlessly exposed herself to retaliation. In wake of the decision, the council accepted the proposal of the Last Hatred archon and the bond has remained for close to a century.
Melianna, true to her word, has provided the Red Sorrow with many resources and opportunities. In the interest of increasing the strength of her new asset, she paid a large price to the coven of the Everspiral and had Nyssa's sisters regenerated. However the regeneration contract has come with a price, and now Nyssa has been indentured to the Archon, paying her debts in blood and flesh. Nyssa has not been accepted as a full equal among the other Succubi, who see her as mongrel-blooded, and as a lap-dog to their benefactor. However, as Melianna has been completely faithful to the agreement, and has provided the resources to maintain the lives of her vat sisters, Nyssa pays their barbs no heed.
